There was a sig alert on the Glendale freeway this morning. It took me 20 minutes to go one mile. I finally make it to my parking lot and run the rest of the way to work. Two, maybe three city blocks... I don't remember exactly, I was running so fast. I make it to my desk at 8:01am and my manager STILL marks me tardy for one minute! Surely I must be working for the new Nazi regime.

Here I am, trying to get to work on time:

Over Budget

What the heck was I thinking? I went WAY over my budget this weekend! I was doing so well the past few weeks. And now I've spent so much! Now for the next 5 days I simply CANNOT spend a dime. I shall allow for one trip to Trader Joe's for groceries and thats it! Here is an estimated break down of the damage. Keep in mind this is my spending money budget. Bills, rent, savings are already paid for. whew...

Lula Mae (www.lulamae.com/) - darling boutique in Pasadena where I picked up a few things for my friend who invited me to her service anniversary luncheon on Tuesday at Bucca De Beppo's.
total damage: $18

Nordstrom - It was Friday. It was payday. I've been dying to sniff Narcisco Rodriguez For Her for a while now, so I decided to celebrate the day by stopping by the perfume counter on the way home from work. For some reason some Stila makeup decided to catch a ride home with me. Darn hitch hiking eyeshadows! total damage: $40 or so

Withdrawl - $40 for Friday's lunch at work, and Saturday's debauchery at the Santa Anita race track. Lost a grand total of $6 because I simply don't know how to pick out the horses. Had a margarita in the attempt to cheer myself up for said loss. Cheese bread & blue cheese salad at The Boat for dinner afterwards. The resturant isn't really named The Boat. The outside just looks like one. It is right next to The Snow House Resturant. Which isn't really named The Snow House either, but I digress...

The rest is nothing short of a blur. Online DHC order (I needed the cleasning oil! It was on sale, sheeesh). Checked out the new Kohl's in Alhambra just to see what all the fuss is about (Socks! Fun, cute socks for cheap! And I promise not to lose these this time). Pankcakes at IHOP (it was my turn to buy Saturday morning's breakfast. Think of it as an investment for free food in the near future). A near midnight trip to Walmart for essentials like cat litter, bath sponge, Gas-X (Hey, the closest one is about 20 miles away. A Walmart trip is still considered a novelty in these parts). Petco for kitty treats, Albertson's for bagel sandwiches, and a tiny eBay purchase of Smashbox eyesahdow & blush. My first ever for that brand. And at such a steal too! I couldn't beat Crazy Larry's prices!!!

Ughhhh
It's a sickness I tell ya

Ramdom musing...

1. Crest Refreshing Vanilla Mint toothpase is fantastic.

2. My scale randomly switched itself to kilograms and I have no idea how to change it back.

3. Inerestingly enough, I weighed 50.8 kg this morning.

4. Running around the apt. in a vintage black Vanity Fair slip & knee high socks makes for an interesting pair of pj's.

5. IHOP Pumpkin pancakes are delectable.

6. I'm going to miss going to Knott's Halloween Haunt this year (even though the last 2 years I went, I promised never to subject myself to such long lines & crowds again).

7. Kohl's has hundreds of darling socks on sale until Oct 31st.

8. I saw the Violent Femmes for $5 at the race track today.

9. They were pretty darn awesome for being what... in their late 60's already?

10. DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is amazing! Rinses off all traces of sunscreen & makeup and doesn't clog pores. I ordered some more for the winter months. dhccare.com says it best:

Try this amazing cleanser and you’ll see why it’s our most popular product worldwide. Dirt, excess oil, makeup—even waterproof mascara—and other pore-cloggers dissolve easily, leaving your face a grime-free zone that is soft to the touch. Its unique water-soluble formula rinses completely, so you’ll never see a greasy residue. Olive oil, rosemary oil, and vitamin E ensure you won’t see dryness either.

New earrings! Bohemian style fish hook in sterling silver and garnet. Not pink pearl as shown in this picture that I got off their website, which is victoriaduque.com
These were only $25 at the street fair, but the designer sells them for $45 on her site!

Now on to the bad news. I have been so sick! And not in the fun way where you can stay home all day and watch movies under blankets while slurping soup. This is more of an upper respitory congestion with a general malaise that simply does not want to go away. The funny thing is I was sick for a solid week with what I thought was a cold: body aches & headache. Then for three solid days I was 100% better. But this past Tuesday I woke up to a terrible sore throat and it has been downhill since with a cough, congestion and tiredness. What's going on here?! Is this the same sickness in relapse? Or something all together new? These new symptoms are completely different than the first ones. I haven't even stayed home from work either. I've been moping all over town and popping Sudafed like its going out of style.

Sometimes I wonder if the aliens will come down to Earth one day and round up the humans and cultivate us for food. Perhaps aliens will be so inclined to eat us for dinner and keep human farms for production of flesh. And that will be OKAY because when you think about it, cows aren't as intelligent as us, therefore they can't possibly suffer in their filthy holding pens, nor feel any sadness at their captivity, nor feel any pain when we kill them for cheap McDonald's hamburgers. So what gives us the right to feel anything for our own demise when some far superior intellectual being does the same to us? On a happier note, I just spent almost $300 out of my own pocket to redo 3 worn fillings. That is after what the insurance paid! They are ceramic too! Expensive, but you know, I like having teeth :)

Happy October!!!

It all started out innocently enough...

Just a little gray plume of smoke...

Which turned into spotted raging fires.

The Sky at dusk...

Raging Fires at night...

(All pictures were taken from my apartment balcony!!!)
