Funny Annabelle Story

One day Annabelle asked, "where's Dabid?"
"At home" I replied. "He's at home dancing and playing" as I secretly envisioned him wearing an evil elf hat while dancing a jig.

Two weeks later we are sitting in the back seat of the car riding to church.
"Where's Dabid?" Annabelle asks.
"At home" I say.

Five minutes later, after we've jumped out of the car and start our descent down alligator lane, she asks again:
"Where's Dabid?"
"At home" I say.
"Dancing and playing?" she asks.

TWO WEEKS LATER. I only mentioned it once, two weeks ago!
She's a little sponge, she is!!

Happy New Year!
One of my new year's resolution for 2007 is to carefully select quality over quantity. Here is an excerpt from a very charming book entitled "Entre Nous, A Woman's Guide to Finding Her Inner French Girl" that sums it up beautifully:
"When the French girl shops, it isn't a solitary act of buying
something new. It's part of a lifelong process of editing her environment,
making small but meaningful additions or adjustments to her home, her closet,
her life.
When you shop like a French girl, you buy only one of anything-
and make sure it's the best quality you can afford. You invest in authentic
things of quality that will endure and you focus on what's essential. And when
you do find those essential things that work for you, you jump."
I am rather keen on this idea of paying a bit more for high quality, long lasting items, rather than the mass consumption of cheap disposables. Instead of an itchy acrylic cardigan from Forever 21 for $20 (that would fall apart in a few washings) I purchased a soft cashmere cardigan for $60 that will last for many years to come. Of course the Banana Republic sweater was on sale. I can still be a bargain hunter while practicing this new philosophy :)
