So my lovely friend decided to treat me to a birthday dinner today. I suggested a Spanish resturant called La Luna Negra because I've always wanted to eat there ever since I walked by and peeked in one random day. It is so darling inside! It has an off beat Bohemian feel to it with intensly painted walls of green or deep red and white Christmas lights twinkling all over. The tables and chairs were all mismatched as well. Some chairs were made of iron, others of straw, and the walls were adorned with rich, deep paintings of Flamenco dancers. I ordered seafood paella and it was soooo good. Slightly spicy saffron rice with calamari, clams, mussels, shrimp and squid. It went well with my glass of sangria. My friend had a stuffed eggplant dish with salmon mashed potatoes! Yes you heard right, Salmon Mashed Potatoes!! They were SOOO YUMMY!!! I'm absolutely smitten with the place!

After dinner we walked around town dodging in and out of shoe stores and looking for a good movie to watch. We then ran into another friend who was going to watch a jazz band before facing the awful traffic on her drive home. It was one of those summer concert in the park things. The band was pretty darn good if I do say so myself. Latin jazz music that reminded me of the song Girl from Ipenema. I also liked what the couple sitting in front of me were doing. They were on the older side, dressed impeccably well. I imagined them living in a San Marino mansion or something. But the lady was drinking wine out of a paper bag. It was great! There was also this man dancing to the music all by himself off to the side. He was so smooth with his dark slicked back hair and Cuban looking mustache. He was really an amazing dancer. He had a streak of the poet, as they say.
